Our Legacy

In 1945, Paul Riedell and his wife Sophie founded Riedell Skates with one goal in mind: to produce and offer only the finest quality skates available in the market. By manufacturing only top-quality, hand-crafted skating boots made in Red Wing, Minnesota, our founders built a reputation for supplying the world’s best skates with exceptional fit and comfort.

A member of both the ice and roller skating Halls of Fame, Paul also desired to make skating available to people of all ages and abilities – not just the pros. The result was comfortable and affordable skates that incorporated the same attention to detail and quality found in every Riedell product. In addition to providing the best products possible to skaters everywhere, the Riedells committed to making sure ice and roller rinks across the nation were stocked with high-quality rental skates. It’s a legacy we are proud to carry on to this day, more than 70 years later.
